Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon was of course, a memorable sight. It sounds like George Washington was a wonderful human being that really cared for people, even the slaves that worked for him. Two of the slaves are buried in the Tomb on the property, with his family and ancestors nearby.

Finally More pictures

These are more pics of the Longwood Gardens in Unionville Pa.

We were really amazed to see all the beautiful flowers and plant. The topiary Garden was really neat, to see the birds and animal shaped trees. It is a must if you get to Pa

More National Cathedral

These are pics of the Natiuonal Cathedral. We were so impressed with this church, it was awsesome.

National Cathedral

we went to the National Cathedral last week and attended a church service. This place leaves you speechless. We then went to the Natural History Museum. We saw a live camera on the Panda Bears at the National Zoo, still hoping to get there in person, but it isn't looking likely. Oh well, guess it isn't meant to be.

Vacation detour

Vacation detour, thought I would see the sites at the hosp and dr offices. In case you don't know, I have a blood clot in the calf of my leg, (Dr said if you have to have one it's the best place, farther away from heart & Lungs) So our sightseeing has stopped and don't know exactly when or if we'll be able to do anymore, just have to get 3000 mi back with NO more clots. They say riding in vehicles for too long a periods is what caused it, so stop every hr instaed of 2 hr.

Washington DC

We went on a night tour of the Washington Monuments, it was very nice to see at night. It makes it look so impressive being lit up.
We got here on Sunday afternoon, went on the tour that night, was gorgeous, but made for a long day.
Mon. Susan got up with a pain in her back, FINALLY convinced her to go to ER Tues night 5pm, (Yes Md. ER's are just as bad as CA.) got home at midnight.
Tues evening our air conditioner went out (Don't I recall this happening last year). We were lucky to get it into the shop on Wednesday morning and get it fixed. Told us the capacitors , are bad so they are now using a different one, so they will install the new type when it comes in next week. At least it is working.
The temp was 99 on the day we spent with 2 dogs, and 2 cats, and 2 grouches, humidity 83, in the Jeep waiting to get it fixed. We are beginning to think the, kinda luck we have most people (us) wouldn't want.
We aren't able to post pictures on our blog today, so when we can we will. All we can do is post written posts. Temperamental computers.

Natiional Cathedral

Went to the National Cathedral and attended a service. It is breathtakingly beautiful. I was thankful that Neil convinced me to get a scooter, it's been worth it's weight in gold.

FYI

These are the shots of what has been done at Crazy Horse. You can go up to the site on a bus, but we chose not to because it was late in the day. Do go into the museum, it was worth the time and money....

Condo on Mississippi

This is the view from the living room window in the condo. It is a 3000 sq ft, 2 bdrm apt. owned, decorated, and lived in by Janet. It was gorgeous
The second one, is a view of the bar, and the last is the kitchen. It used to be an old dept store. What a great idea for old building that are no longer used.

Longwood Flowers

These was gorgeous water lillies and Santa Cruz water lillies.
Just more flowers to see

Longwood Gardens Unionville Pa

This is the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens. The beauty in the pictures is only slightly accurate of the actual flowers and plants. Seen alot of Gardens but this one is top notch in comparison. This is the Topiary Garden and all of the plants and trees are trimmed (almost) perfect, and they were just beautiful.
This was a day to remember for a long long time. They have palnts from every corner of this earth. We did find the conservatory to be somewhat humid, (Of course Pa is all humid to us)

Tomorrow we are going to Philadelphia and see the Historic Area, so tomorrow we will add some pics. Sunday and Monday have been declared as days to do nothing, then on Tuesday we will move to Md. and DC
